When did you last have lunch in peace?
Food has become an afterthought
For many of us, lunch has become an afterthought: a sandwich standing up, a snack bar between meetings – or nothing at all. Then we make up for it in the evening, late and in large portions.
At the same time, one food trend chases the next. Sometimes fat is the enemy, sometimes carbs; sometimes everything must be raw, high-protein or “clean”. We would rather follow the next trend than ask ourselves what we actually need.
Trends give one answer for everyone. Ayurveda asks a different question: what does this person need – today, in their daily life, with their work, in this season?
Our lunch is an invitation to give food its place again. No dogma, no rules – just freshly cooked food you can enjoy in peace.
Ayurvedic principles
People come first, not trends
Ayurveda is not a diet but an ancient knowledge of life from India and Sri Lanka. In the kitchen this means: it is not only about the food, but about the person eating it.
01
Everyone is different
Constitution, age, desk work or physical work, season and how you feel today – all of this shapes what you need. That is why you combine for yourself: just soup, salad and rice, or everything.
02
The nature of food
Ayurveda looks at the nature of food: warm or cold, light or heavy, dry or moist. On cold days a soup warms you, on warm days a salad refreshes, after a long morning a rice box fills you up.
03
Lunch is the main meal
In Ayurvedic tradition, midday is the best time for the biggest meal of the day – when the digestive fire (Agni) is considered strongest. In the evening, eat lighter.
04
Six tastes
Sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent: an Ayurvedic meal brings together all six where possible. It leaves you content – without craving something sweet afterwards.
05
Fresh, seasonal, spiced
We cook fresh every day with seasonal vegetables and spices such as Ceylon cinnamon, turmeric, coriander and cumin – from our own import from Sri Lanka.
06
Eat in peace
How we eat matters as much as what we eat: sitting down, away from screens, with a few minutes of time. Take this break – it is part of lunch.
You don't need to know your “Ayurveda type” or learn any rules. Simply notice what you feel like today and what does you good.
